The Tea Rose

So, this is my pick for December. It is a long read, but you will all thank me in the end. I plan to host it at The Beehive Tea Room in SLC. I will be able to drive most of you in my vehicle. And i'm thinking too have it in the afternoon, since it will be winter and freezing! Happy Reading!

Pick a Winner

This is our first book, "The Sex Lives of Cannibals." Its a travel memoir of sorts about a young fella who did what we all say we will do one day, packed his stuff and got the hell outta dodge...so to speak. Its gotten rave reviews, everyone I know who has read it adores it, and I've been meaning to read it for quite some time. Besides it seems right to start this off with a laugh. Again its "The Sex Lives of Cannibals" by J Maarten Troost. Its in paperback, so cost shouldn't be a big thing. You can even get it at the library (here) or amazon for cheap (here) .
As it stands I (Leah) will be hosting the meeting for this book on the afternoon of October 24th (think 3ish.) As we get closer I'll get out details. Happy Reading!!!

Roll Call

And away we go! I wanted to try and get a quick idea of how our book club's year is going to unfold. So here is how I know the order of hosting (and book picking!) is so far:

October - Leah (the afternoon of the 24th or 25th, got a preference let me know)
December - Brandie
February - Amanda
April - ?
June - ?
August -?

This is if we stick to the every other month plan, also whomever is hosting can pick an official date. In the meantime, we can use this as a place to chat about books and what have you. I'll be more than happy to set up whomever might need help. Hooray, I'm so excited my geekdom is in overload!

Round 1

This blog is, hopefully, the start of a group effort to get a book club going between friends. So that, we ladies, might take a moment for ourselves, get lost in a good book, and have an excellent excuse to get together on a bimonthly basis.
